These months also correspond to the most touristic period. The area is very windy and when it blows a lot it is freezing cold. From March to April, there is less tourism and the wind is less present. During July and August, it can snow in Patagonia, making it very cold. During this period, it is difficult, if not impossible, to hike at altitude. When planning your trip, take into account that the weather can change very quickly in Patagonia. During the austral summer, it can be 25° at midday in the sun and 0° if the sky is overcast.
If you go to the town of El Calafate, which is located a few kilometers from Perito Moreno, you will have the opportunity to discover many Argentine specialities. Many restaurants offer wood-fired grills. The asado is an integral part of Argentine gastronomy. Different kinds of meat, sausages and mutton are grilled on a spit.
